Your Ghana trip from Qatar, planned by a team on the ground

Qatar Airways flies nonstop from Doha to Accra, so the journey home starts in Qatar and ends at Kotoka. We are based in Kasoa, Central Region, and we plan flights, visas, stays and airport pickup for two groups: Ghanaians working in Doha who are going home for family, and business travellers using Qatar as a base in the Gulf. Both groups receive the same written, itemised quote.

Flying Doha to Accra on Qatar Airways

Qatar Airways flies nonstop from Doha (DOH) to Kotoka International Airport (ACC) in Accra, so the whole journey is one flight with no connection to manage. That matters for a trip tied to a funeral, a wedding or an outdooring, because fewer moving parts means fewer things to go wrong at short notice. A nonstop also means one less airport to plan around on the way out and the way back. Schedules, cabin classes and fares change, so we will not quote a timetable or price you cannot rely on. Send us your preferred dates and we will check what is currently on offer, then set the options out in writing. You can read how we handle bookings on our flights page.

Once the dates are agreed, we make the booking and send an itemised quote, so you can see every line before you pay. Each booking comes with a written confirmation, so the names, dates and amounts on your tickets can be checked against that quote. You can pay by Visa, Mastercard or PayPal from Qatar. Mobile Money needs a Ghanaian wallet, so most people in Doha will find a card simpler. Visa support runs alongside the booking, but please confirm with the Ghana Immigration Service or nearest Ghana embassy before you commit to flights. On arrival, airport fast-track and meeting logistics can be arranged, and our driver meets you inside arrivals. If the driver is not there, the pickup is free.

For the Ghanaian community & business in Qatar

Many Ghanaians working in Doha, in construction, services and hospitality, often have only a short window of annual leave, and the trip home is planned around family rather than the other way round. We handle the parts that are easy to get wrong from a distance: the flight into Accra, a verified place to stay, and a driver for the airport run, which you can book through our airport car service. For larger family groups we also have furnished 3–5 bedroom homes near Kasoa, about an hour west of Accra by road, so relatives can stay together. If a funeral, wedding or outdooring sets the date, we work backwards from it and tell you early if the plan needs to change.

Business travellers use Doha as a base for meetings, trade and site visits across the region, and some add Ghana to a route they already fly through Qatar. For that kind of trip we arrange verified hotels, a car with driver, meeting logistics and a written itinerary that your office can check against its own calendar. Relocation and investment move more slowly and carry more risk. We will say that plainly, and we will ask you to confirm land titles with a Ghanaian lawyer and a search at the Lands Commission before any money moves. If you are planning a longer stay or a move home, our relocation concierge can take on the practical steps that follow arrival, so the logistics do not pile up in your first weeks.

A sample week, the way we’d run it

A typical trip from Qatar is one nonstop flight, a few days in Accra or Kasoa, and a return timed around work or family.

1

Arrive at Kotoka

Met inside arrivals, SIM and cold water in the car, driven to your home or hotel.

2–3

Cape Coast & Kakum

The castles at Cape Coast and Elmina, then the Kakum canopy walk at its quiet best.

4

Accra at your pace

Markets, Jamestown, Independence Square and the museums, planned around the traffic.

5–6

Kumasi & the Ashanti heartland

Manhyia Palace, Kejetia market and the kente villages, with a night in Kumasi.

7

Rest, beach or fly home

A slow last day on the coast, or an early run to the airport — your driver handles it.

When to visit Ghana

Ghana’s year turns on rain, not cold. The month you pick changes crowds, price and the roads up north more than the temperature.

Nov–Mar · dry season

The most popular window. December is festive but busy; the north can be dusty in harmattan.

Apr–Jun · first rains

Greener, quieter and cheaper. Showers are short but roads in the north get harder.

Jul–Aug · dry spell

A calmer break in the south, good for the coast and the castles.

Sep–Nov · second rains

Fewer crowds; we plan around the wetter days and keep the north flexible.

Investing, building or moving to Ghana

Many people in Qatar plan to build or invest in Ghana, and land is where the costliest mistakes happen. Titles can be unclear, family interests can compete, and a sale that looks clean on paper may not be. Before you pay a deposit, instruct a Ghanaian lawyer to search the title, and have that search confirmed at the Lands Commission. Our guide to buying land in Ghana safely sets out the checks in the order we would make them, so you can ask the right questions from Doha. A lawyer's fee is small beside the cost of a disputed plot.

We help with logistics on the ground, including travel, viewings and meetings, but the legal checks belong to a qualified Ghanaian lawyer, and the decision to buy is yours. Keep the lawyer's search on file, and if anything in it is unclear, pause before paying. We would rather you delay a purchase than regret one made from Qatar in a hurry.

Questions, answered honestly

What is the easiest way to fly to Ghana from Qatar?

The simplest route is Qatar Airways' nonstop service from Doha (DOH) to Kotoka International Airport (ACC) in Accra, which avoids a connection altogether. Schedules and fares change, so we check the current options against your dates and send them to you in writing. Tell us if you are visiting family for a few days or travelling for work for longer, and we will suggest the flight and the stay that suit that purpose best.

Do I need a visa for Ghana if I live in Qatar?

Most residents of Qatar, and holders of non-African passports, currently need a visa for Ghana, but the rules depend on your passport and can change. We can help you prepare visa support. Please confirm with the Ghana Immigration Service or nearest Ghana embassy before you book flights or pay for accommodation, so that a delay or refusal does not leave you with costs you cannot recover.

Do I need a yellow fever certificate?

Ghana currently requires a yellow fever certificate for entry, so carry the original card on the flight and keep a photo of it as a backup. If you have a medical reason you cannot be vaccinated, speak to your doctor and the Ghana Immigration Service before you book, so you know which documents will be accepted. Requirements can change, so confirm the latest position with the nearest Ghana embassy or your airline close to travel.

Can you help plan a family event, such as a funeral, wedding or outdooring?

Yes. We plan the flights, a place to stay and the airport pickup around the family date, and we can add a car with driver for the days you need one. Send us the date, the town and the programme as far as you know it, and we will work backwards from there. Many families change the date more than once, so we keep the first options flexible and explain every line in writing. Cancellation is free up to 14 days before travel.

How do airport pickup and drivers work?

Our driver meets you inside arrivals at Kotoka International Airport. If the driver is not there to meet you, the pickup is free. Send your flight number when you book so the arrivals team knows when to expect you, and fast-track and meeting logistics can be arranged. Our arrivals desk runs 24 hours a day if your flight lands late. Car rental with a driver is also available for trips around Accra, Kasoa and further afield, and every price is itemised before you pay.

What is the best time to travel from Qatar to Ghana?

There is no single best time, so start with your own calendar. Many people travel in December, around Easter or during school holidays, and those periods are usually busier and dearer. Book early for peak dates, and tell us if you can move a day or two, since flexibility can affect the fare. Rainfall differs between the coast and the north, so tell us where you are going and we will factor that into the advice.

Can I pay from Qatar?

Yes. You can pay by Visa, Mastercard or PayPal, and every booking comes with an itemised quote and a written confirmation. Mobile Money works only with a Ghanaian wallet, so for most people in Qatar a card or PayPal is the practical route. You see the full breakdown before you pay, and nothing is final until you are happy with the plan. If your plans change, our free cancellation applies up to 14 days out.

Is Ghana safe to visit?

Most visits to Ghana, including family trips and business stays, pass without trouble, but you should use ordinary caution and check your government's current travel advice before you go. We book verified hotels, our drivers meet you at the arrivals gate, and we can advise on which areas suit your plans. Keep copies of your documents and share your itinerary with family in Qatar, as you would on any international trip.

Can I set up a company or invest in Ghana from Qatar?

You can start the process from Qatar, but company registration and investment rules need a Ghanaian lawyer and accountant. The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre is the usual starting point for foreign investors, and relocation planning is part of our concierge service. For land, we recommend a title search and a Lands Commission check before any deposit. We help with logistics on the ground, but we do not give legal or tax advice.

How quickly do you reply, and what are your hours?

We are based in Kasoa Opeikuma, Central Region, and our office is open Monday to Saturday, 8:00 to 19:00 GMT. Ghana is on GMT all year, three hours behind Doha, so our 19:00 closing time is 22:00 in Qatar. Reach us on WhatsApp or by phone at +233 24 915 1503, or email support@ghanatravelandtour.com. Our arrivals desk runs 24/7 for travellers already on the ground.
