Routes from Zurich, Geneva and Basel to Accra have one connection, usually in Frankfurt, Brussels, Amsterdam or Istanbul. We are a small team in Kasoa Opeikuma, about an hour west of Kotoka International, and we handle what is hard from a distance: passport help, visa paperwork, verified hotels or a furnished home, and a driver who waits for you inside arrivals. Every quote is itemised and confirmed in writing.
Tell us the basics. We reply with an itemised quote, usually the same day.
There is no nonstop flight between Switzerland and Ghana, so the real choice is which connection suits you. From Zurich (ZRH), Geneva (GVA) or Basel (BSL), you can currently connect through Frankfurt on Lufthansa, Brussels on Brussels Airlines, Amsterdam on KLM or Istanbul on Turkish Airlines, before landing at Kotoka International in Accra. Each hub has its own layover length, baggage rules and timing, and carriers adjust their schedules through the year. For that reason we compare the current options with you before you commit, and we do not promise a fare or timetable in advance. Prices move with the season, the date you book and the Swiss school holidays. Our flight booking service explains how we work through the options.
Once you choose an option, we issue one written quote that lists each leg, the carrier, the connecting city, the baggage allowance and the taxes and fees on separate lines, so nothing appears later as a surprise. Payment is by Visa, Mastercard or PayPal from Switzerland. Mobile Money is also available, but it needs a Ghanaian wallet, so most of our Swiss guests will not use it. Many visa applications ask for a flight reservation, so we can hold one for you while the visa is prepared, and we issue the ticket once everything is in order. Our free cancellation applies 14 days out, and every confirmation arrives in writing.
Our Swiss guests fall into three broad groups. Affluent leisure travellers want a well-run stay, a private driver and a guided itinerary that goes beyond the beach. Business and development travellers often come to Accra for a short, tightly scheduled visit and need dependable hotels, a car and timings that hold. Geneva hosts many international organisations, and their staff often travel at short notice, so we plan around meetings rather than holidays. A smaller Ghanaian community in Zurich and Geneva forms the third group, and many of those travellers want a home base near Kasoa rather than a hotel room. The team is the same across all three, but each trip is built differently.
Ghanaian family trips are rarely simple, and for many people they are the reason they first contact a travel agent. A funeral, a one-week or 40-days observance, an outdooring (the naming ceremony for a child) or a wedding each has its own programme, its own people to visit and its own expectations about where you stay. We can arrange accommodation near the family, transport between Accra, Kasoa and the family's town, and the logistics for children and older relatives travelling with you. For first-time visitors from Switzerland, we also take care of passport help, visa support and an airport pickup that waits inside arrivals, so the first day is about arriving, not finding a car. Tell us the dates and the event, and we will build around them.
Eight services under one roof means there’s never a gap between a flight, a driver and a front door — and one trip manager who owns it when plans change.
Passport, visa, flights, hotels, tours, homes, airport pickup and car rental all run through one team. When something changes, your trip manager owns it.
Your driver waits inside arrivals at Kotoka. If the driver isn’t there when you land, the airport pickup is free.
Every quote lists each item, with no hidden fees at the end. You see the full total before you pay anything.
Pay by Visa, Mastercard or PayPal, or by Mobile Money if you hold a Ghanaian wallet.
Our office is in Kasoa Opeikuma, open Monday to Saturday, 8:00–19:00 GMT, so you reach a real team — not a form.
Every booking is confirmed in writing. Cancel free up to 14 days before arrival, and ask us about price‑matching.
The reassurance we give our own clients before they fly — stated plainly, not buried in terms.
We track your flight and wait if it’s delayed. If your driver isn’t inside arrivals when you land, the pickup costs you nothing.
Plans change. Cancel homes, cars and tours up to 14 days before arrival for a full refund of your deposit.
Every quote is line‑by‑line with no hidden fees. Find the same home or tour cheaper elsewhere and we’ll look at matching it.
One accountable team handles each part of the trip, so nothing falls through the gap between a flight, a driver and a front door.
New, renewal and replacement, prepared and tracked.

Fifteen private, guided tours: the castles at Cape Coast and Elmina, the Kakum canopy walk at its quiet morning best, Kumasi and the Ashanti heartland, the Mole elephants in the north, and the waterfalls of the Volta. Each one comes with a licensed guide, entry fees and meals, planned around honest drive times and the heat.
We’ll tell you plainly what fits in a day and what doesn’t, so you spend the trip seeing Ghana rather than sitting in a vehicle. See the full set on our tours page.
A realistic shortlist — with honest notes on distance and timing, not a wish‑list that never fits.
Two coastal castles where the enslaved were held. Take a guided visit and leave time afterwards.
Suspended walkways through rainforest, best in the cool of the morning.

Markets, museums and heavy traffic. Plan a full day and expect long drives between areas.

The Ashanti capital, a long day by road — most visitors stay overnight.

Ghana’s best‑known park, far north. Fly or allow several days to reach it.

Waterfalls and hills in the east near Togo. A long drive that suits a slower trip.

Choose a verified hotel, or a fully furnished 3, 4 or 5‑bedroom private home in a gated compound near Kasoa — safer than a hotel for a family or church group, with housekeeping, backup power, Wi‑Fi and security. On the ground, we arrange airport pickup and car rental with or without a driver, so you’re never bargaining with a stranger after a long flight.
Swiss travellers often arrive after a long connection, so we plan the first day around rest and the rest of the trip around the reason you came.
Met inside arrivals, SIM and cold water in the car, driven to your home or hotel.
The castles at Cape Coast and Elmina, then the Kakum canopy walk at its quiet best.
Markets, Jamestown, Independence Square and the museums, planned around the traffic.
Manhyia Palace, Kejetia market and the kente villages, with a night in Kumasi.
A slow last day on the coast, or an early run to the airport — your driver handles it.
Ghana’s year turns on rain, not cold. The month you pick changes crowds, price and the roads up north more than the temperature.
The most popular window. December is festive but busy; the north can be dusty in harmattan.
Greener, quieter and cheaper. Showers are short but roads in the north get harder.
A calmer break in the south, good for the coast and the castles.
Fewer crowds; we plan around the wetter days and keep the north flexible.
Four steps, no pressure, nothing booked until you say so.
Send your dates, travellers and what you want — a visa, flights, a home or a tour. A short message is enough to start.
In office hours we aim to reply the same day with a line‑by‑line quote in writing. Change items before anything is booked.
Pay by card, PayPal or Mobile Money as set out in your quote. Every booking is confirmed in writing, cancellation terms included.
Your driver is waiting inside arrivals at Kotoka. Our arrivals desk runs 24/7, so a late or early flight is covered.
The same trip, two very different weeks. Here’s where the difference actually shows up.

Some people from Switzerland come to Ghana to buy land, build a house, start a business or settle back after years abroad. Each has real upside and real risk. Land is often held by families or stools rather than by one registered owner, and the same plot can be sold more than once, so checks are not optional. Before you pay anything, your own Ghanaian lawyer should search the land at the Lands Commission, check the seller's title, confirm any family consent and verify the documents. We can point you to the process and help you prepare questions, but we do not act as your lawyer or sign for you. Our guide to buying land in Ghana safely sets out the steps in order.
If you are returning to live in Ghana, the same discipline applies. Visit a site at different hours and in different seasons, and treat any seller who rushes you as a warning in itself.
Private guided tours, verified hotels and a driver who knows the roads between Accra, Kasoa and the coast. Itineraries are shaped around how you like to travel, not around a fixed package, and the plan arrives in writing with every cost itemised.
Meetings in Accra and site visits planned around your appointments, with hotels near the places you need to be and airport pickup timed to your flight. Because meetings move, we keep the itinerary easy to change, and itemised quotes and written confirmations make expenses straightforward to claim back.
Funerals, observances, outdoorings and weddings, with accommodation near the family and transport arranged before you land. For larger groups we can arrange a furnished three to five bedroom home near Kasoa, which many families find easier than splitting across several hotels.
Land, building and business enquiries handled with honest checks, a Ghanaian lawyer engaged early and time to see a place before anything is signed. We help you plan the visit and the paperwork, and we say plainly what we do and do not handle.
The simplest route is usually one connection from Zurich, Geneva or Basel, through Frankfurt, Brussels, Amsterdam or Istanbul, into Kotoka International in Accra. The best hub depends on your dates, your budget and how long you can wait at the connection. Send us your departure airport and preferred dates, and we will compare the current options with you. We confirm the fare only when the booking is made, because prices and schedules change.
Swiss citizens currently need a visa to enter Ghana. Requirements and application routes can change, so confirm the latest position with the Ghana Immigration Service or your nearest Ghana embassy before you book anything. Our visa support covers help gathering and checking your documents before you apply, and we can hold a flight reservation if the application asks for one. We cannot guarantee the outcome, because the decision rests with the authorities.
A yellow fever certificate is currently required for entry to Ghana, and you may be asked to show it at check-in as well as on arrival. Vaccination usually takes effect about ten days after it is given, so book it early with your Swiss doctor or travel clinic and keep the original certificate with your passport. Requirements can change, so confirm with the Ghana Immigration Service or your nearest Ghana embassy before you travel.
Many Swiss travellers prefer the drier months from roughly November to March, when coastal days are comfortable for sightseeing. Harmattan, a dusty wind from the north, can haze the air in December and January. The main rains in the south fall roughly from April to July, with a shorter wet spell in September and October. Swiss school holidays in July, August and around Christmas make flights and hotels busier and dearer, so a quieter month may suit you better.
Yes. We book flights from Zurich, Geneva and Basel to Accra through the connections outlined on this page, and we can book your return as well. You receive the full itinerary and fare in writing. Fares and schedules change, so we confirm the price at the point of booking rather than promising one now. Free cancellation applies 14 days out, but airline conditions apply after that, and these are set out on your quote before you agree.
You can pay by Visa, Mastercard or PayPal, all of which work well from Switzerland. Mobile Money is also accepted, but it needs a Ghanaian mobile wallet, so it is rarely practical for Swiss guests. Every payment is itemised, and each one is confirmed in writing. Check the currency on your quote before you pay, and ask your card provider about foreign transaction charges, because those are set by your bank and not by us.
Ghana is widely visited and generally welcoming to visitors, but no destination is free of risk, and official advice can change. Read the travel advice from the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA, or EDA in German) before you go, and register your trip on Itineris, the FDFA's travel registration service, so Swiss authorities can reach you in an emergency. We will talk through practical precautions for your itinerary before you travel.
Yes. We help Swiss travellers attend funerals, one-week and 40-days observances, outdoorings and weddings. We can arrange accommodation near the family, transport between Accra, Kasoa and the family's town, and an airport pickup for each arrival. Please tell us the programme and any contributions the family has asked you to plan for as early as you can, so the schedule and budget are clear. Every cost is itemised and confirmed in writing before you travel.
We can help you plan the visit, prepare questions and keep the process transparent, but we are not your lawyer and we do not sign for you. Engage a Ghanaian lawyer to search the land at the Lands Commission, check the title and any family or stool consent, and confirm that the documents are genuine before any money changes hands. Read our guide on buying land in Ghana safely before you travel, so you arrive with the right questions.
Our office in Kasoa Opeikuma keeps hours from 8:00 to 19:00 Ghana time, Monday to Saturday. Ghana stays on GMT all year, so it is one hour behind Switzerland in winter and two hours behind in summer. WhatsApp or call +233 24 915 1503, or email support@ghanatravelandtour.com. A message sent from Switzerland in the morning will usually be answered during the Ghana working day, which falls between late morning and late evening your time.
Tell us your departure airport, your dates and the purpose of the trip. You will receive an itemised quote in writing, with a driver waiting inside arrivals at Kotoka.
