Ghana tours from Milan
One change of plane in northern Europe and you are on the West African coast the same day. Here is how a Milan traveller plans it properly.
The short answer
- Milan to Accra is a comfortable one-stop journey, usually via a European hub, done inside a single day of travel.
- You land at Kotoka International Airport in Accra; we meet you inside arrivals and drive you straight to your hotel.
- Most travellers from Milan check whether they need an ETA or visa before flying, and carry a yellow fever certificate.
- A week is enough for Accra, the Cape Coast castles and the Kakum canopy walk at an unhurried pace.
- We run private, air-conditioned cars and minibuses with local driver-guides, so you never touch a tro-tro schedule.
- Send us your dates and group size and we build a costed day-by-day plan around your flights.

How you actually get from Milan to Accra
There is no direct flight between Milan and Accra, and you do not need one. From Malpensa or Linate you connect once through a European hub and arrive the same day. The usual candidates are Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris and Istanbul, and each of these carries several routes down to West Africa. Gate to gate you are looking at roughly a half-day, most of which is the leg south from Europe.
We deliberately do not quote you flight numbers or fares here, because schedules and prices shift constantly and the last thing you want is stale information. Book your own flights or use your agent, then confirm the current timetable before you pay. Once your flights are set, send them to us and we plan everything on the ground around them.
As a Kasoa-based team who arrange these trips every week, we care most about your arrival time. A late-evening landing at Kotoka is completely normal and nothing to worry about when someone is waiting for you.
When to come, and how long to stay
Ghana has two broad seasons: a drier stretch from roughly November to March, and a wetter, greener spell mid-year. Both work for a coastal trip, and prices at home in Milan often dip outside the European summer. The dusty Harmattan haze around December and January is worth knowing about if you love clear photographs. Our fuller notes on the best time to visit Ghana break the year down month by month.

For length, do not treat this as a weekend break. You have spent a day getting here, so give yourself time. Seven days covers Accra, the Cape Coast and Elmina castles and Kakum without rushing; ten lets you slow right down or add Kumasi. Our 7-day Ghana itinerary is the shape most Milan visitors follow, and it is easy to stretch or trim once we know your interests.
Arrival, paperwork and getting picked up
You land at Kotoka International Airport in Accra, a small and manageable airport. Before you fly, check whether your nationality needs a visa or the electronic travel authorisation, and sort a yellow fever certificate, which is required for entry. We keep Ghana's visa and ETA rules and the yellow fever certificate requirement explained plainly, but always confirm current rules with the official source before travelling.
Our driver meets you inside the arrivals hall with your name on a board, helps with bags and walks you to an air-conditioned car. No haggling with taxi touts at midnight, no working out the road to your hotel. That first hour, after a long day from Milan, is exactly where a good operator earns its keep.
What a week actually looks like
A typical trip starts gently in Accra: Jamestown, the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, Makola market and a plate of jollof or waakye. Then we run west along the coast road to Cape Coast and Elmina, where the castles tell the hard, important history of the transatlantic slave trade. It is a heavy, moving morning, and a proper guide makes the difference.

Nearby is Kakum National Park, where a rope-and-plank canopy walkway runs through the treetops. Our Kakum canopy walk guide and Cape Coast and Elmina castles guide cover both in detail. Everything is joined up by road, and the state of that road is exactly why a comfortable vehicle matters.

We drive these routes constantly, so we know where to stop, where to eat and how long each leg really takes.
What shapes the price, and how to book
We will not print a fake headline figure. What a private tour costs depends on real things: your group size, the standard of hotel you want, how far you travel, the season, and whether the trip is fully private or shared. Four friends splitting a vehicle pay very differently per head from a solo traveller. Our Ghana trip cost breakdown explains the moving parts honestly.
A private tour is not the cheapest way to see Ghana, and we are open about that. What you buy is time saved, stress removed and a driver-guide who handles the logistics while you enjoy the country. Tell us your dates, numbers and the sort of trip you have in mind, and we send back a costed, day-by-day plan with no obligation.
Ready when you are
Ghana is one of the easier long-ish trips to organise from Milan once the routing clicks into place: one connection in Europe, a same-day arrival, and a team on the ground who has your name on a board. You handle the flights; we handle everything after you land.

Questions people ask
How do I book a Ghana tour from Milan?
Send us your travel dates and group size through the enquiry form or on WhatsApp. We reply with a costed, day-by-day plan you can adjust. Once you are happy, we confirm your booking. You arrange your own Milan flights; we handle everything on the ground.
Is there a direct flight from Milan to Accra?
No. You connect once through a European hub such as Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris or Istanbul, and arrive the same day. We do not quote flight numbers or fares because they change often, so confirm the current schedule before you pay.
What is included in a private tour?
A private air-conditioned vehicle, a local driver-guide, fuel, and a planned route with site stops. Hotels, park and castle entry fees and meals can be bundled in or left flexible. We list exactly what your quote covers so there are no surprises.
Can the itinerary be customised?
Yes, entirely. The 7-day outline is a starting point. Tell us if you want more beach time, a Kumasi add-on, a slower pace or specific interests such as food or history, and we redesign the plan around you.
Do you take small groups and families?
We do. We arrange trips for solo travellers, couples, families with children and larger friend groups, matching the vehicle to your numbers. Group size is one of the main things that affects the per-person cost.
Is a deposit needed, and is it safe and reliable?
A deposit usually secures your dates, with the balance settled nearer travel; we confirm the exact terms in your quote. We are a Kasoa-based team running these trips every week, our drivers know the routes, and you always have a direct line to us before and during your visit.
What I know about Ghanaian travel comes from doing it: filing passport and visa applications, booking flights and hotels, collecting people from arrivals at two in the morning, and driving the Accra, Tema, Cape Coast and Kumasi runs week after week. Where this guide describes how something works, it is because we have done it.
Rules, fees and timetables in Ghana change. I have deliberately not quoted figures that go stale — where a number matters I name the office to confirm it with. If you spot something out of date, tell me and we will fix it.
