Getting a quote for a Ghana tour

A good quote is not just a number. It should tell you exactly what is covered, what is not, and why the price is what it is — so you can compare like with like.

The short answer

  • Price depends on group size, trip length, season, vehicle and hotel standard.
  • There is no honest fixed 'from' figure — a real quote is built around your trip.
  • Give us dates, number of travellers, route and comfort level for an accurate price.
  • A good quote itemises what is included and, just as importantly, what is not.
  • Compare quotes on inclusions and vehicle standard, not the headline number alone.
  • Ask before you book — a quick call or message clears up most questions.

Why there is no honest fixed price

The first thing worth saying plainly: any operator who quotes you a firm "from" figure before knowing your trip is guessing, and usually low. A tour to Cape Coast for two people in a car looks nothing like a two-week loop to Mole for a family of six in a minibus during peak season. The price follows the trip, not the other way round.

As a Kasoa-based team who run these routes every week, we would rather ask you a few questions and give you a real number than dangle a headline price that quietly grows once the details land. That is the honest way to do it, and it is the only way you can compare quotes fairly.

Take the classic Cape Coast run as an example: the same route can cost very differently depending on whether you want a simple guesthouse or a smart beachfront lodge, and whether it is just the two of you or a group sharing a minibus. Once we know those things, the number becomes real.

What actually drives the cost

A handful of things move the price, and understanding them helps you plan. Group size matters because a car, a large car or a Hiace minibus cost differently, and fuel and driver time are shared across more or fewer heads. Trip length and distance add up in fuel and driver days, especially the long northern run to Mole. Season plays a part, with the dry-season peak busier and pricier than the quieter months.

Standard of hotel is often the biggest lever of all, from simple guesthouses to smart lodges. And whether you want everything private or are happy to share changes things too. Our cost breakdown and transport guide give useful context on where the money goes.

What to tell us for an accurate quote

The more you tell us, the sharper the quote. The essentials are your travel dates (or rough month), the number of travellers and whether any are children, the places you want to see, and your comfort level for hotels. Anything else helps too: a wedding anniversary, mobility needs, a fixed budget you want us to work within, or a must-do like the Kakum canopy walk.

If you are unsure of the route, that is fine. Send us a wish list and we will shape something realistic; the 7-day itinerary is a good starting point to react to. We would rather build the trip with you than hand you a rigid package.

What a good quote should include

A proper quote is itemised, not a single mystery figure. You should be able to see the vehicle and driver-guide, which nights of accommodation are covered, fuel and driver expenses, and any airport pickup. Just as important is what is not included, typically site entry fees, tips, meals not stated, and personal spending.

Clarity there is what stops a cheap-looking quote turning into an expensive surprise. When we send yours, we spell out both sides so you know exactly where you stand. If anything is unclear, ask, and we will explain it before you commit to anything. The first-timer tips also cover the small on-the-ground costs worth budgeting for.

How to compare quotes fairly

If you are gathering quotes from a few operators, compare like with like. A lower number often means a lower hotel standard, an older or non-air-conditioned vehicle, shared rather than private travel, or fewer inclusions hidden below the headline. None of that is wrong, but you want to know before you choose.

Look at the vehicle standard, the exact inclusions, and whether the operator is a real, contactable local team who answer your questions properly. A genuine quote should invite questions, not dodge them. Reliability on the road matters more than a few pounds saved on paper, and a quote that is honest up front usually reflects an operator who is honest throughout.

One practical tip: ask each operator the same specific questions, such as whether the vehicle is air-conditioned, whether the driver doubles as a guide, and which meals and site fees are in or out. The answers, more than the price, tell you who you are really dealing with.

Questions people ask

How much does a Ghana tour cost?

There is no honest single figure, because the price is built around your trip. Group size, number of days, season, vehicle, hotel standard and distance all move it. Send us your dates, traveller count and route and we will give you an accurate, itemised quote rather than a vague estimate.

What information do you need to give me a quote?

The essentials are your travel dates or rough month, how many travellers and whether any are children, the places you want to see, and your preferred hotel standard. Any extras, like a budget to work within or a must-do site, help us tailor it. The more you share, the sharper the quote.

How do I request a quote and book?

Message us on WhatsApp or use our Plan my trip page with your details. We will reply with a suggested route and a tailored quote, usually within a day or two, and explain the booking steps clearly. There is no charge or obligation to ask.

What is included in a tour quote?

A good quote itemises the vehicle and driver-guide, the nights of accommodation covered, fuel and driver expenses, and any airport pickup, and it states what is not included, such as site fees, tips and some meals. We spell out both sides so there are no surprises later.

Can the tour be customised to my budget?

Yes. Tell us the budget you want to work within and we will shape the route, vehicle and hotel standard to fit it honestly, rather than promising more than the number allows. We would rather build a realistic trip with you than sell a fixed package.

Is a deposit needed to confirm the quote?

Booking terms depend on trip length and season, and we explain them clearly with the quote. We keep things transparent, with no hidden fees. Ask us directly and we will walk you through exactly how confirmation works before you pay anything.

Written by Abdul, founder of Ghana Travel & TourI started this agency in Kasoa Opeikuma, Central Region, in 2020. Our drivers meet flights at Kotoka, our homes are the ones we let in Kasoa, and the routes described here are the ones we run ourselves.

What I know about Ghanaian travel comes from doing it: filing passport and visa applications, booking flights and hotels, collecting people from arrivals at two in the morning, and driving the Accra, Tema, Cape Coast and Kumasi runs week after week. Where this guide describes how something works, it is because we have done it.

Rules, fees and timetables in Ghana change. I have deliberately not quoted figures that go stale — where a number matters I name the office to confirm it with. If you spot something out of date, tell me and we will fix it.
