Is Ghana safe, and is it easy to travel?
This is the question we hear first, and the honest answer is that Ghana is one of the more stable and welcoming countries in West Africa. English is the official language, so communication is rarely a problem, and visitors regularly remark on how genuinely friendly people are. Take the same sensible precautions you would in any unfamiliar city and you will be fine; our safety guide goes into real detail.

On ease, Accra runs on ride apps and taxis, and the country is compact enough to see a lot in a week or two. The longer legs to Cape Coast, Kumasi and Mole are where a driver-guide saves you time and hassle. If it is your first trip to the continent, what to know before visiting is a useful primer.
One caveat worth naming: distances look shorter on a map than they feel on the ground. Accra traffic is heavy at rush hour, and the northern roads to Mole take real time. Building a sensible route matters more than trying to see everything, and it is the part we help most with.
How do your tours actually work?
Our tours are private, not big coach groups. You travel with your own driver-guide in an air-conditioned car or, for larger parties, a Hiace minibus. We pick you up, usually from your hotel or straight from Kotoka airport, and run the route at your pace, stopping for food, photos or a rest when you want rather than on a fixed timetable.

As a Kasoa-based team who arrange these trips every week, we know which roads are slow, where lunch is decent, and how to time the castles and Kakum to avoid the crowds. The transport guide explains how it fits together, and the first-timer tips cover the small practicalities.
What is included, and what does it cost?
What a quote covers depends on what you need, but it typically includes the vehicle and driver-guide, fuel and driver expenses, and we can add airport pickup and help with hotels and route. We always state what is not included, such as site entry fees, tips and some meals, so there are no surprises.
On price, we will not quote a fake "from" figure. Cost is driven by group size, trip length, season, vehicle and the standard of hotel you want. Send us the details and we build a real, itemised quote. For context on where the money goes, see our cost breakdown. The biggest single lever is usually the standard of hotel, followed by how many days you travel and how many of you are sharing the vehicle.
Can I customise it, and what about group size?
Yes, customising is the whole point. We build the route around your interests, whether that is a diaspora roots journey through the castles, a family holiday balanced with beach time, or a fuller loop up to Kumasi and Mole. You can slow the pace, add a day, or swap a stop; nothing is locked into a rigid package.

Group size is flexible too, from a solo traveller or couple in a car to families and larger groups in a minibus. It is also one of the main things that affects the quote, so tell us how many of you there are and whether any are children when you enquire. We travel plenty of families and older visitors, and we are used to adjusting the pace, the walking and the daily driving hours to suit everyone in the party.
When should I go, and how far ahead should I book?
The dry season, roughly November to March, is the most comfortable time to travel, though Ghana is a year-round destination and the quieter months have their own appeal. December and January bring the harmattan haze, cooler but greyer for photos. A week or two of lead time is usually enough, though peak-season dates and larger groups fill up faster, so earlier is safer.
Visa rules, health advice and flight routes change, so confirm the current details with official sources or a travel clinic close to departure. We will always tell you honestly if a plan is too ambitious for the days you have rather than cram it in.
Still have a question?
If your question is not here, just ask. We would far rather answer it properly before you book than have you wondering. A short message with your plans gets you a straight reply from a real person in Ghana.
Whatever you want to know, we are happy to help you decide, even if you are only at the wondering stage.
Questions people ask
Is Ghana safe for tourists?
Ghana is one of the more stable and welcoming countries in West Africa and is popular as a first African destination. English is the official language, which makes travel easy, and people are famously friendly. Take normal sensible precautions and confirm current advice before you go. Our safety guide covers the practical detail.
How do I book a Ghana tour with you?
Message us on WhatsApp or use our Plan my trip page with your dates, group size and the places you want to see. We will reply with a suggested route and a tailored quote, usually within a day or two, and explain the booking steps clearly. There is no obligation to ask.
What is included in a tour?
A tour typically includes a private driver-guide and an air-conditioned vehicle, fuel and driver expenses, and we can add airport pickup and help with hotels. We always state what is not included, such as site entry fees, tips and some meals, so the quote is clear from the start.
Can the tour be customised to what I want?
Yes. We build every trip around your interests, pace and budget rather than selling fixed packages. You can add sites like Kakum, extend a stop, slow things down for a family, or focus on a roots journey through the castles. Just tell us what matters most and we shape it to fit.
What group sizes can you accommodate?
Everything from a solo traveller or couple in an air-conditioned car to families and larger groups in a Hiace minibus. Group size is one of the main things that affects your quote, so let us know how many of you there are, and whether any are children, when you enquire.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
Booking terms vary with trip length and season, and we explain them clearly when we send your quote. We keep everything transparent, with no hidden fees. Ask us directly and we will walk you through how confirmation works before you commit to anything.
What I know about Ghanaian travel comes from doing it: filing passport and visa applications, booking flights and hotels, collecting people from arrivals at two in the morning, and driving the Accra, Tema, Cape Coast and Kumasi runs week after week. Where this guide describes how something works, it is because we have done it.
Rules, fees and timetables in Ghana change. I have deliberately not quoted figures that go stale — where a number matters I name the office to confirm it with. If you spot something out of date, tell me and we will fix it.
