Ghana multi-day private tours
A few days on the road with your own driver-guide is how you see the real spread of Ghana — coast, forest, kingdom and savannah — without the guesswork of doing it alone.
The short answer
- A multi-day private tour gives you one vehicle, one driver-guide and a route built around your interests, from arrival to departure.
- A common loop runs Accra to Cape Coast, up to Kumasi, and on to Mole National Park before returning — roughly a week.
- You travel in an air-conditioned car or Toyota Hiace minibus, with hotels booked ahead so you are not sorting rooms on the road.
- The pace is yours: we build in rest days, beach afternoons and unhurried mornings rather than racing between sights.
- Cost depends on the number of days, group size, standard of hotel and distance covered, not a fixed package rate.
- Send your dates, group size and rough interests on WhatsApp and we will design a route and a clear quote.

What a multi-day private tour actually gives you
Ghana is bigger and more varied than a single base lets you see. The castles are on the coast, the kingdom is inland at Kumasi, the elephants are up north at Mole, and the drives between them are half the experience. Trying to string that together on public transport is possible, but it eats your days and your patience. A private tour hands the logistics to us so your energy goes on the country, not the connections.
As a Kasoa-based team who run these trips every week, what we are really selling is time and calm: the same driver-guide throughout, a vehicle that is yours for the trip, and hotels booked before you arrive. If you are weighing up how long to come for, start with how many days in Ghana.
A typical route, and how we adapt it
Our most popular loop takes about a week. Day one is arrival and Accra; then west to Cape Coast for the castles and Kakum; up through the forest to Kumasi for the palace, Kejetia and the kente villages; and north to Mole National Park for a walking or driving safari, with elephants at the waterhole. The drive back down closes the circle. A fortnight lets you add the Volta region, the Nzulezo stilt village or beach time at Busua.
None of it is fixed. We shape the route around what you care about — history, wildlife, crafts, beaches — and around a realistic pace. Our 7-day itinerary and 14-day itinerary show two versions of how it can flow.
The vehicle, the driver and the day-to-day
The vehicle matters more on a long trip than a short one. For couples and pairs we use an air-conditioned saloon car; for families and groups, a Toyota Hiace minibus with room for luggage and space to stretch on the longer legs. Ghana's main roads are mostly good, but distances are real, so a comfortable, well-maintained vehicle is not a luxury — it is the difference between arriving fresh and arriving frayed.

Your driver-guide is the constant thread. They know the roads, the good lunch stops, when to leave to beat the traffic out of Accra, and how to read a situation. For the wider picture of road travel here, see our getting around Ghana guide, and for Mole specifically our Mole safari guide.
Pace, comfort and the honest trade-offs
The mistake most first-timers make is cramming too much in. We would rather you saw four places well than eight in a blur, so we build in slower mornings, a beach afternoon, and the odd day that is mostly rest. Ghana in the heat rewards a gentle rhythm.
We are also honest about the trade-off. A private multi-day tour costs more than doing it yourself on trotros and STC buses — there is no pretending otherwise. What you get back is time, comfort, safety and someone else carrying the logistics, which for most people on a once-in-a-while trip is money well spent. If budget is tight, our backpacking Ghana guide is an honest alternative, and for the western beaches see Nzulezo and Busua.
Cost and how we quote it
There is no honest flat price for a multi-day tour, and anyone quoting one before knowing your trip is guessing. The figure depends on the number of days, how many are travelling, the standard of hotel you want, the distance the route covers, and the season. We would rather ask a few questions and give you a real number than post a headline price that turns out to be for something else.

To get a quote, send your dates, your group size, the sort of accommodation you have in mind, and anything you know you want to see. We will design a route, suggest hotels, and give you a clear, itemised price with nothing buried in the small print. Your trip starts the moment you land, so we usually fold in a Kotoka pickup to begin it right, and we are happy to adjust the plan as we go if the pace or the interests shift.

Questions people ask
How do I book a multi-day private tour?
Send us your dates, group size and rough interests on WhatsApp or through the site. We design a day-by-day route with suggested hotels and a clear, itemised quote. Once you are happy, we confirm the vehicle, driver-guide and bookings for the whole trip.
What is included in the price?
Typically your vehicle, fuel and driver-guide throughout, plus hotels if we book them for you. Entrance fees, meals and optional add-ons are itemised so you see exactly what is covered. We spell it all out before you commit rather than leaving surprises.
Can the itinerary be customised?
Completely. The route, the pace and the hotels are all built around you — more history or more wildlife, faster or slower, budget or comfort. We suggest a plan based on what you tell us, then refine it with you until it fits.
What size groups do you take?
From a couple in a saloon car to a family or friend group in a Toyota Hiace minibus. Larger parties can use more than one vehicle. We tour with mixed-age groups regularly and pace longer trips so no one is worn out.
Is a deposit required?
For a multi-day trip with hotels booked ahead, some payment upfront is usual so we can secure your rooms and vehicle, but terms vary by trip and season. We always explain the arrangement clearly before you commit, with nothing hidden.
Is it safe and reliable?
Ghana is one of the safer, more welcoming countries in the region, and we run these routes every week with drivers and vehicles we know. You have a named contact throughout, and if something changes on the road we adjust the plan rather than leave you stuck.
What I know about Ghanaian travel comes from doing it: filing passport and visa applications, booking flights and hotels, collecting people from arrivals at two in the morning, and driving the Accra, Tema, Cape Coast and Kumasi runs week after week. Where this guide describes how something works, it is because we have done it.
Rules, fees and timetables in Ghana change. I have deliberately not quoted figures that go stale — where a number matters I name the office to confirm it with. If you spot something out of date, tell me and we will fix it.
