Sample Ghana tour itineraries
These are starting points, not fixed packages. Use them to picture your trip, then tell us your dates and we will shape the route around you.
The short answer
- Every itinerary we run is private and built around your dates, pace and interests, so treat these as templates.
- A long weekend of three to four days covers Accra, Cape Coast castle and the Kakum canopy walk.
- One week is the sweet spot for a first visit: Accra, the coast castles, Kakum and Kumasi without rushing.
- Two weeks lets you add the north for Mole National Park plus slow days on the beach.
- Distances look short on a map, but Accra traffic and the coastal road decide what is realistic in a day.
- Send your dates and group size and we will turn any of these shapes into a costed, tailored plan.

How our itineraries actually work
These are sample routes, not a menu you order from. Every trip we arrange is private and built around your dates, your pace and the things you care about, so read the itineraries below as a starting shape rather than a fixed package.
As a Kasoa-based team who arrange these trips every week, we know how long each leg really takes once Accra traffic and the coastal road are factored in. Ghana looks compact on a map, but the drive from Accra to Cape Coast, or up to Kumasi, eats more of the day than newcomers expect. A calm, realistic plan beats an ambitious one that leaves you exhausted. If you are still weighing up length, our guide on how many days in Ghana you need is the right place to begin.
Below are shapes for a long weekend, a full week and a fortnight. We build in rest, proper meals and room for the odd unplanned stop, because a schedule with no slack stops feeling like a holiday.
A long weekend: three to four days
Short on time and still want the heart of southern Ghana? A long weekend manages it. Day one is Accra itself: Jamestown and its lighthouse, the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, a walk through Makola market and dinner in Osu. Day two we drive west along the coast to Cape Coast for the castle and its sobering history. Day three is Kakum National Park for the canopy walk, then the road back to Accra.
It moves at a fair clip, but it works because we handle the driving and the timing. You are not haggling with taxis or guessing at opening hours. For a fuller version of the city leg, our Accra 3-day itinerary lays out the stops in a sensible order.
One week: the classic loop
Seven days is the sweet spot for a first visit. You get Accra, the Cape Coast and Elmina castles, Kakum's canopy walk and time inland at Kumasi for Ashanti culture and the Manhyia Palace, all without a forced march. It is the route we run most often, and the pacing has been tuned over many trips.

We usually spend two nights on the coast so the castles and Kakum are not crammed into one tiring day. Our Cape Coast and Elmina castles guide and the Kakum canopy walk guide explain each in depth, and the Ghana 7-day itinerary sets out this loop day by day.
Two weeks: coast, culture and the north
With a fortnight you can reach the north. Add Mole National Park for elephants, antelope and warthogs at the waterholes, the old mud-and-stick mosque at Larabanga nearby, and more time in the Ashanti heartland around Kumasi. Then wind down with a few slow days on the beach at Busua or out at Ada where the Volta meets the sea.

The north is a long drive, so we plan it as an overnight leg rather than a dash. Our Mole National Park safari guide and the Kumasi and Ashanti guide cover those stops, and the Ghana 14-day itinerary shows how it all links together.
How we tailor a route to you
None of the above is set in stone. Tell us who is travelling, how you like to move and what pulls you most, and we redraw it. Honeymooners want a slower pace and better hotels; families want shorter drives and swimming; keen photographers want early starts. We adjust the nights, swap in beach time, or trim a leg that does not excite you.
Cost follows the shape of the trip: length, group size, season, the standard of hotel and how far you range. We do not publish fixed prices because no two of these routes are identical, and we would rather quote you honestly once we know the details. A private car with a driver-guide costs more than doing it alone on public transport, but on Ghana's roads it saves hours and a good deal of stress, and it is the trade-off most travellers happily make.
Turn a sample into your trip
Pick the shape that fits your time, then let us do the hard part: the timings, the driving, the hotels and the small decisions that make a trip run smoothly. We will tell you honestly if your plan is too tight, and we will always suggest the version we would book ourselves.
Message us on WhatsApp or through the site with your dates, how many are coming and what you most want to see. We reply with a tailored itinerary and a costed quote, and a small deposit holds it once you are happy.
Questions people ask
Are these fixed packages I book as-is?
No. They are sample shapes to help you picture a trip. Every itinerary we run is private and adjusted to your dates, pace and interests before we quote it, so you end up with a plan built for you rather than an off-the-shelf tour.
How do I book once I have chosen a shape?
Send your dates and group size through the website or WhatsApp. We reply with a tailored itinerary and a clear quote, and a small deposit confirms it. There is no charge for the planning conversation.
Can you customise the route?
Yes, that is the whole point. We change the pace, swap in beach days, upgrade hotels or trim legs that do not appeal. Tell us who is travelling and what you care about and we redraw the plan accordingly.
What group sizes do you handle?
From solo travellers and couples up to families and larger groups. We match the vehicle to the party, from an air-conditioned car to a minibus, and quote per group rather than pretending one price fits all.
Is a deposit required?
A small deposit secures your dates and vehicle, with the balance settled closer to travel. We confirm the exact amount and terms in writing when we send your quote, so nothing is a surprise.
Is travelling around Ghana this way safe and reliable?
Ghana is one of West Africa's more settled countries and we drive these routes constantly. Using a private driver-guide keeps things predictable and comfortable, though you should still follow normal travel sense and any current official advice.
What I know about Ghanaian travel comes from doing it: filing passport and visa applications, booking flights and hotels, collecting people from arrivals at two in the morning, and driving the Accra, Tema, Cape Coast and Kumasi runs week after week. Where this guide describes how something works, it is because we have done it.
Rules, fees and timetables in Ghana change. I have deliberately not quoted figures that go stale — where a number matters I name the office to confirm it with. If you spot something out of date, tell me and we will fix it.
