Everything we do, in one place

Ghana Travel and Tour is a Kasoa-based team who arrange private trips across Ghana every week, from a single airport pickup to a two-week grand tour. This page brings our services together so you can find exactly what you need, then follow the link for the full detail. Every trip is private, tailored to your dates, group and interests, and looked after on the ground by a driver-guide who knows the roads.

Below you will find our tours and packages, transport and airport services, guides for specific travellers and occasions, and honest planning and booking information. If you are not sure where to start, our sample itineraries and how our tours work pages are a good first read.

What ties all of this together is that we are a local team, not a faraway booking desk. We live and work near Accra, we drive these roads every week, and the person who answers your first message is part of the same team who will look after you on the ground. That is why our advice is specific rather than generic, and why we can adjust a plan quickly when something changes — a flight time, the weather, or simply what you feel like doing on the day.

Tours and packages

Our tours are the heart of what we do. Rather than fixed group departures on set dates, we build each trip around the people travelling and the time they have. A first visit usually follows the classic southern loop — Accra to settle in, west along the coast to Cape Coast and Elmina for the castles, the Kakum canopy walk, then up to Kumasi for the Ashanti heartland — but the shape is yours to change. Travellers with more time push north to Mole National Park for elephants, or east to the Volta Region for waterfalls and lake scenery.

Packages suit people who would rather pick a ready-made shape and adjust the details. A three or four day trip covers Accra and the coast comfortably; a week takes in the coast and Kumasi without rushing; ten days to a fortnight lets you reach the north or the Volta as well. Whatever the length, the day-to-day is private: your own vehicle and driver-guide, your own pace, and time built in for the things that matter to you rather than a fixed coach schedule.

If you are weighing up which trip fits, the individual pages below go into honest detail — what each covers, roughly how the days flow, what is realistic in the time, and how to book. Confirm current opening hours and any seasonal closures with us when you plan, as these do change.

Drivers, airport pickup and transport

Reliable ground transport underpins every good trip in Ghana, and it is often the part first-time visitors worry about most. Roads vary from smooth dual carriageways to slower rural stretches, distances look shorter on a map than they drive, and having a driver who knows the routes, the traffic patterns around Accra and the safe places to stop makes an enormous difference. All our vehicles are air-conditioned and maintained, and our driver-guides are vetted, experienced and used to looking after visitors.

Airport pickup is where most trips begin. Landing at Kotoka after a long flight, being met by name and driven straight to your hotel takes away the single most stressful moment of arrival. We also arrange transfers between cities, full-day charters, and multi-day transport for people who want a driver for their whole stay. The pages below explain each service, what is included, and how to arrange it.

If you only need one thing from us, a trustworthy driver is often it — and many travellers who start with a simple airport pickup come back to us for their whole itinerary once they see how much smoother it makes the trip.

Who we plan for

Not every trip looks the same, because not every traveller wants the same thing. A honeymooning couple, a family with young children, a group of friends marking a milestone, a company planning an incentive trip and a member of the diaspora returning for the Year of Return all need something different from Ghana, and from us. Over the years we have planned for all of these, and the guides below share what we have learned about each.

For the diaspora in particular, a return to Ghana carries weight that a normal holiday does not. The castles at Cape Coast and Elmina, the Door of No Return, and the welcome of the Year of Return movement mean these trips are often emotional as well as memorable, and we plan them with that in mind — unhurried, with space to reflect.

Whoever you are travelling as, the underlying trip is arranged the same careful way: private, tailored, and looked after on the ground. The pages here simply speak to particular travellers and occasions so you can see how we would approach yours.

Planning, booking and peace of mind

Booking a trip to a country you have not visited can feel like a leap, especially when you are handing over a deposit to a team on the other side of the world. We would rather you booked with confidence, so a good part of our writing is simply honest, practical information: how the booking process works, what a trip realistically costs and why, what is and is not included, how far ahead to plan, and what to expect once you are here.

We do not publish fixed prices, and the guides below explain why plainly — group size, season, the standard of hotels you choose, how much driving is involved and how much is private all move the figure, so a single number online would mislead more than it helped. What we do instead is send a clear, written quote once we understand your plans, with no hidden extras.

If you read nothing else before getting in touch, the guides on how our tours work, what to expect, and how booking and payment work will answer most first-time questions. Anything they do not cover, a real person on our team is happy to talk through.

Where to stay

Where you sleep shapes a trip as much as what you see. Ghana's accommodation runs from simple, friendly guesthouses to a handful of genuinely luxurious lodges and characterful boutique hotels, and the right choice depends on your budget, your route and how much comfort matters to you after a full day of travel. We arrange stays to fit the trip rather than pushing a fixed list of partner hotels.

The guides below share our honest take on the better places to stay in the categories travellers ask about most. As with everything, we suggest options to suit your plans and confirm availability and current rates when we build your quote, since these change with the season.

Travelling from a specific country

Wherever in the world you are flying from, the trip on the ground in Ghana is arranged the same way — but the journey to get here, the airlines and routes, the time difference and the practical preparations differ by where you start. The country guides below cover common departure points in honest detail.

For a fuller list, our dedicated city hub covers more than 100 cities worldwide, each with realistic routing, flight-time guidance and timing advice. If your city is not listed, get in touch anyway; we help travellers arriving from all over.

How to get started

The simplest way to begin is to tell us three things: your rough dates, how many are travelling, and what you would most like to see or do. From there we suggest an itinerary and send a clear, written quote with no hidden extras. We never publish fixed prices online because every trip is genuinely different, but we are always happy to give an honest, tailored figure.

Once you are happy, a modest deposit confirms the trip and we handle the rest, meeting you at the airport when you land. Prefer to talk it through first? Message us on WhatsApp and a real person on our team will reply. There is no pressure and no obligation — plenty of people write to us months ahead simply to sketch out ideas, and we are glad to help you think it through whenever you are ready.

Questions people ask

What services does Ghana Travel and Tour offer?

We arrange private, tailor-made tours across Ghana, set-length packages, airport pickup and nationwide transport with driver-guides, and specialist trips for families, couples, groups, corporates and the diaspora. This hub links a full guide to each. Everything is private and built around you rather than a fixed group departure.

Do you publish your prices?

No, because every trip is genuinely different — group size, season, standard of hotels, distance and how much is private all change the figure. Instead we send a clear, written quote once we understand your plans, with no hidden extras. You can ask for a tailored quote at any time with no obligation.

How do I book a trip?

Tell us your rough dates, how many are travelling and what you would like to see. We reply with a suggested itinerary and a clear quote, and a modest deposit confirms the trip once you are happy. From your arrival at Kotoka onwards, we take care of everything on the ground.

Are your tours private or group?

Our trips are private by default, with your own driver-guide and vehicle, so you set the pace of each day. We also arrange trips for groups travelling together, such as families, church groups, alumni and companies, which are still run privately for that group.

Can you help travellers coming from my country or city?

Yes. We have country guides for common departure points and a dedicated city hub covering more than 100 cities worldwide, each with honest routing and timing. Wherever you fly in from, the trip on the ground in Ghana is arranged the same way.

Do you only cover Accra, or all of Ghana?

We cover the whole country — the southern coast and castles, Kumasi and the Ashanti region, the Volta Region, and the north including Mole National Park — plus regional add-ons to neighbours where it makes sense. The right route depends on your time and interests, which we build around you.

Written by Abdul, founder of Ghana Travel & TourI started this agency in Kasoa Opeikuma, Central Region, in 2020. Our drivers meet flights at Kotoka, our homes are the ones we let in Kasoa, and the routes described here are the ones we run ourselves.

What I know about Ghanaian travel comes from doing it: filing passport and visa applications, booking flights and hotels, collecting people from arrivals at two in the morning, and driving the Accra, Tema, Cape Coast and Kumasi runs week after week. Where this guide describes how something works, it is because we have done it.

Rules, fees and timetables in Ghana change. I have deliberately not quoted figures that go stale — where a number matters I name the office to confirm it with. If you spot something out of date, tell me and we will fix it.
